Our History

Born in Rome in 1929, Romano Felici was proud of his home city, and gained invaluable experience in the world of Roman cuisine and catering. He began his career by opening and managing nightclubs in 1950s Rome during the magic Fellini era, before then moving to Hostaria al Fontanone in the late ‘60s – a successful, well-known restaurant. In the ‘90s he decided to accept a new challenge of working at the historic “Al Pescatore”, relaunching it at the same high levels of Roman restaurants. Nowadays, the restaurant, overlooks the “Porticciolo dei Pescatori” in the ancient Borghetto, and the management is still in the hands of Romano’s family. Romano’s sons Luciano and Laura Felici continue to offer traditional sea dishes in this location, with plenty of other surprises on the menu too.

Il Borghetto dei Pescatori stays true to Italian traditions from a historical point of view, having retained lots of the ancient buildings and structures. It presents itself with little houses close to the canal, where boats and fishermen moor and pass by. Here you can really get a sense of the the ancient seafaring traditions that seem almost forgotten nowadays, annihilated by the obsessive rhythms of technological civilization. This is the story of Ostia, a fresco painting of evocative life and rare beauty.

At the heart of the town, set like a gem among the green pine groves and the sea, you will find Al Pescatore where a familiar and serene ambience greets you – the ideal place for those who want to forget the stress of city traffic! The property is spacious with an outdoor veranda and, as a result, the atmosphere always feels relaxed and comfortable.

The Eden of fish … and not only …

An oasis of taste and tradition in the heart of the ancient, picturesque village of Borghetto dei Pescatori. Located 100 meters from the sea, in front of the quaint fishing port, Al Pescatore restaurant has always been synonymous with quality.

Our cuisine

The Al Pescatore Restaurant offers a simple and balanced cuisine, both when it comes to sauces and pairing flavours or ingredients. An ideal kitchen for those who love fish and its scents. Our menu offers also meat dishes and a wide selection of pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven. Desserts are homemade and wines carefully selected from niche cellars of the Italian territory.
